Dry skin or dehydrated skin? Spot the difference.

The differences

Dry skin is a skin type, while dehydrated skin only characterizes a condition of your skin. Any skin type, including combination skin and even oily skin, can have dehydrated skin.

Dry skin has a greatly reduced sebum flow. This disrupts the skin's natural protective barrier and the ability to retain moisture. Dry skin is usually thin, flaky and pale. Because it is often sensitive, dry skin requires a lot of care and nutrients from inside and out.

Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, is due to external circumstances and describes a lack of moisture in the skin. You can counteract dehydrated skin with the right care. It is important to note that you not only moisturize the skin, but also maintain the moisture in the skin.

Care tips

You should only cleanse dry skin in the evening with a moisturizing cleansing milk , supply it with moisture and oils and pay attention to soothing ingredients in your care. A rich base cream paired with sea buckthorn oil, mallow extract, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C is suitable for this. It can also help to integrate sufficient omega-3 fatty acids into your diet. Chia seeds, linseeds and walnuts are rich in Omega-3. So how about a delicious porridge with flax seeds and walnuts or a chia pudding for breakfast?

Dehydrated skin only needs a mild and short cleansing. A PH-neutral cleanser is suitable for this, which has been specially designed to preserve the moisture in the skin and only cleanse it gently. Avoid washing your skin with water that is too warm; similar to dry skin, this will also dry out dehydrated skin further. Hyaluronic acid is dehydrated skin's best friend. It balances the moisture level of your skin and in combination with algae extract, your skin is well hydrated . We recommend safflower oil to protect against water loss. If you have dehydrated skin, you should avoid excessively heated or air-conditioned rooms. Always make sure that the humidity does not drop too much.

The following applies to all skin types : UV protection is important!

Sun attacks your skin regardless of skin type and condition. We recommend using an SPF of 30 or higher every day in the morning after applying cream.
