Buckthorn oil is a real anti-aging miracle. Rich in palmitic acid, carotenoids, vitamin E and antioxidants, it protects the skin from environmental influences and oxidative stress. This makes dry skin more elastic and slows down the formation of wrinkles. The natural fruit acids in sea buckthorn oil prevent age spots and naturally lighten existing spots. Sea buckthorn oil in skin care can also mitigate the negative effects of sun damage. Sea buckthorn oil is the ideal additive for mature, dry skin. Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) is a 1-6m high shrub that grows in different areas in the northern hemisphere. In Germany alone, the growing areas are very different. So you can see sea buckthorn shrubs both on the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, as well as in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Sunny areas with sandy soils, sparse pine forests, dunes, steppes and gravelly banks are particularly suitable for the growth of sea buckthorn. The plant is wind and salt resistant and does not require much water. The harvest of the fruits takes place between August and September. Unharvested, the sea buckthorn fruits, similar to rose hips, can still hang on the bushes the following spring. However, they are then no longer usable. The sea buckthorn oil is obtained by a cold pressing of the sea buckthorn seed.
